Craig on being a celebrity
Craig on being a celebrity
The media is constantly in front of us and the gossip columns will always write things about you, most of which is untrue or half true. We have a relatively kind media in this country but it still pays to have a healthy distrust of it. A quote can be made to mean anything and in their photo sections there’s a lot of innuendo. When that first happens you worry about how people who don’t know the situation will read it, how your family will be affected by it.
And the decision I made, and I think a lot of us here have made, is that if we let it affect us they have power over us. By saying, ‘Let them write what they want, let them say what they want let them think what they want, I know who I am’ that removes their power and you exist for yourself rather than as a creature that you think people expect you to be, or that has been constructed by the media.
It really pays to keep your private self for the people you like and love. It does me no favours at all to reveal my personal life to people who read magazines.
