RADIO LOLLIPOP celebrated a year of entertaining the children at Auckland’s Starship Hospital and the news that they are to be the official charity for the 1993-94 Whitbread Round-the-World Yacht Race with a first birthday bash at Auckland Zoo.

Checking out the festivities and perhaps contemplating a radio station for their own clinic were Shortland Street stars Craig Parker and Angela Bloomfield. The popular pair were on hand to sign autographs for the many families who flocked to the zoo for the day billed by the organisers as the biggest children’s birthday party ever held in New Zealand.

There was a band to entertain the kids, and a few furry “animals” running around as well.
